Habitat Restoration
Projects by Location
In 1996, the NOAA Restoration Center (NOAA RC) began its
Community-based Restoration Program, which provides
funding, through a competitive process, for local
efforts to restore coastal habitat. The purpose of
the program is to promote coastal stewardship and
a conservation ethic among coastal communities while
fostering the development of restoration partnerships
and expertise among NOAA Fisheries personnel. Since
its inception, the Community-based Restoration Program
has partnered on over 1000 projects, many of which
are ongoing today.
